I watched The Fast and the Furious 3: Tokyo Drift (imdb, trailer) tonight. I knew it was going to be bad but I didn’t fully realize how bad. Fortunately, it features some amazing driving and some even cooler cars. More than 200 were used in Tokyo Drift; I break down the best below:

1967 Ford Mustang with an RB26DETT engine from a 2001 Nissan Skyline. After the power plant swap the Mustang generated 375 hp and turned the quarter mile in 14.7 seconds. V-8 versions were also used. Learn more


1993 Mazda RX-7 with 19” wheels, a single turbo kit and serious sound. The VeilSide wide body kit makes it 80” across. 306 hp as used in the movie. Learn more

2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX modified for drifting. Rear-wheel drive only, widened with and APR kit and fitted with 19 x 8.5” wheels. The stock turbocharged 2.0 liter engine produces 286 hp. Learn more
